I am attaching the Windows file that shows the upload. If you have already uploaded an image, PSE will skip over it and not upload it again. Photoshop Elements does not assign a different file number or append the -1. I've documented what I've found and will send it to Adobe - maybe they will put out some kind of update to correct the problem. a second copy of the image is sent by the camera (or requested by PSE), and Windows assigns the same file number because the are exactly the same, appending -1 to the second one. I don't know what kind of communication goes on between the import application in PSE and that USB connection to the camera, but that's where the problem seems to come from. Also, there are no duplicates when you upload to PSE from the SD card, which is actually the workaround to the problem. I have uploaded photos to other editors with no duplicate photos being generated. all the photos I uploaded after I installed the new version of PSE have a companion file with the same number plus -1. If I had checked Windows Explorer early on I would have had a better idea of what is causing the problem. This happens when using a cable connection from the camera to the computer, and only when uploading to PSE. I upgraded from the 2019 version to the 2022 version on 4/11, and uploaded the first batch of photos on 4/14, all of which were duplicated. Not only did they not send out any kind of fix for it then, they actually seem to have transported it right into their newest product. It's actually been happening since Adobe released the 2021 version. After checking those links, and others, I find that this IS a Photoshop Elements 2022 issue. John, thanks for the links you shared and the suggestion regarding the SD card.
